Conversation with A Creative, Anne Choi – NJ Fibershed

  • Ormiston Mansion 2000 Reservoir Drive Philadelphia, PA, 19121 United States (map)

PGHW members and friends will be sitting on the porch or in the shade and having a conversation with Anne Choi, a fiber artist in Bedminster, NJ who is raising a small flock of Shetland sheep for their wool, which is blended with wool from nearby farms to create her small-batch, custom milled line of Vintage yarns

Anne teaches spinning, weaving, and dyeing, at fiber festivals and yarn shops across the country, and at her teaching studio on the farm. She serves on the Board of the North American Shetland Sheep Association, and is the founder of NJ Fibershed. For more information, visit www.middlebrookfiberworks.com, or follow her on Instagram at @anne.choi

We will all be learning about NJ Fibershed, an affiliate program of Fibershed, a nonprofit organization based in Northern California. Each Fibershed affiliate program has its own goals and mission specific to its region. NJ Fibershed focuses on building a network of fiber farmers raising small flocks of sheep, alpacas, goats, and other fiber animals in New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. Our goal is to promote face-to-face relationships between fiber animals, farmers, and fiber artists within our community, and to raise awareness of our local system of fiber production and use. We are working to provide educational programs on small-scale fiber farming, such as animal care and fiber-processing, and we organize community outreach events for current and aspiring fiber farmers. You can read more about our organization, and the national Fibershed movement, on our website at www.njfibershed.com.

Members and friends are welcome to bring small fiber art projects, small looms, or their spinning wheels to sit and chat with Anne. The Guild will supply light snacks and drinks.
